#216 Spider-Man + Theatresports

Storm. Dust. Box. Books.

6 MAY 2026

Hello.

Real talk. I’ve left writing this newsletter slightly too late and now I have to head off to a singing lesson imminently.

But please enjoy these succinct recommendations.

Rule of three

A boy stands in the middle of a maelstrom of movement, smoking.

[Choreography] Storm II - Gener8ion
The choreography in this music video is mesmerising; people moving like brownian motion. It’s one of those feats of human endeavour that is so far from my ability to comprehend that my brain just gives up with a pop and simply enjoys it on an almost instinctual level.

One girl and her hitman friend meet Sigourney Weaver in a flower-forward café.

[Film] Dust Bunny
A hit man tries to save a young girl from the monster under her bed whilst fending off a near constant stream of assassins. Like Amelié meets Léon: The Professional but much less French than either of those imply.

Timotheé Chalamet as Batman

[Article] New box to put men into
I enjoyed this tongue-in-cheek article that insists that every man can be classified by one of the “main” three superheroes - Superman, Batman, Spider-Man - with a sport appended. So Chris Hemsworth is a Superman + surfing, Timotheé Chalamet is a Batman + tap dancing and Post Malone is a Spider-Man + bowling. Special shout out to Matt Damon being Superman + catch. I think I’m probably a Spider-Man + Theatresports (is that cheating?). Feel free to self identify!

Spotlight

Anděl Sudik and Rebecca MacMillan as The Library of Forgotten Books

The Pretend Company has a couple of events to delight you.

Pretend Night Jam, Theatre Deli - featuring Anděl Sudik and Rebecca MacMillan as The Library of Forgotten Books. Plus a longform jam directed by me and Liam.

Content dictates form: An Anděl Sudik playground, The Cockpit Theatre, Marylebone - full day workshop with one of the best improvisers on the planet.

A cute dog with flowers in his hair.

Oh, I wish I was a cavapoo with flowers in his hair.
