#208 What we leave behind
A single recommendation this week.
18 FEBRUARY 2026
Hello, everyone.
This week I’ve been working on a new show.
It’s called What We Leave Behind.

It’s the first show that The Pretend Company have ever produced.
The plan was simple.
Get a cast and crew together, all meet on Monday morning and by Thursday have a brand new improvised format to perform. Then run it for three nights until Saturday.
Today is the Wednesday of that process.
I am so happy, I can’t tell you.
The Pretend Company was always meant to be, first and foremost, a performance company. Everything else we do is a result of that drive to make interesting stuff.
So it feels right and good that we’re just jumping in with both feet. This week has been everything I hoped it would be - challenging and inspiring and frustrating and ascendant. It’s been a load of people I love and admire in a room throwing stuff at a wall - sometimes figuratively, often actually. It’s been discussions and play and laughter and sore knees.
I really want you to come and see it. I’d love for you to take the leap. Not because it’s perfect but because it’s different and it’s alive and we made it with wide eyes and open hearts.
And it wasn’t here three days ago.
What We Leave Behind is an improvised play about people and memories and the objects that carry an echo of our passing into an unknown future.
We’re presenting it Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st February at the Clapham Omnibus Theatre at 8pm. It’ll last about an hour and it’ll be completely different each night.
You can get tickets here. I hope you will.
Thanks for reading.
