Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) is looking forward to welcoming the state’s first electric fire truck to our firefighting fleet.FRV’s Electric Vehicle for Incident and Emergency - named EVIE for short - will arrive in Victoria later this year.EVIE has been built to FRV specifications and combines the latest innovative firefighting equipment and technology in a high-performing zero emissions vehicle.
On my walk at lunchtime today I saw a fire truck, not unexpected while in the Melbourne CBD, but as it sped past, lights flashing & sirens wailing, I thought I saw the word “Electric” painted on the side. I checked it out upon my return and yes - not only did I see my first electric fire truck, turns out it was also Victoria’s fist electric fire truck! #awesome
