Projects, Projects

Hello! It’s been slightly less than a year since my last message and I’ve done very little.

Well, what I’ve actually been doing is bringing multiple games to within inches of completion then not finishing them, but Buttondown just billed me for the year and reminded me that I haven’t sent a newsletter in a while, and I’ve got two games that are going to be crowdfunding soon, so I’ve arrived here in your inbox to ask you to do the usual and sign up for launch notifications on Crucible and Gravity.

Crucible is a solo roguelike world-building game you play with a deck of cards you can write on and a handful of six-sided dice. You play someone who has forgotten most of who they are and travel through the titular Crucible, to see who you will become. On each run you learn a little bit more about the place, and what’s going on.

A translucent ooze monster rises menacingly out of a square pool on the ground, where it was disguised as some water.

Gravity, on the other hand, is a GMless and nearly-diceless one-shot game of powerful people who may or may not like each other, in a dangerous situation. The danger increases and its nature becomes clearer over time, compressing the situation and forcing the characters to bounce off each other more and more until… a conclusion!

Anyway, if either of those sound interesting you should follow them now because what’s going to happen is, instead of launching a crowdfunder after months of careful buildup and hype-making, I’m probably going to get sick of waiting and launch one or both of them without warning at some weird hour on a Sunday morning.

I might remember to publicise the launch here, I might not. But if you follow them you’ll know!

(And I’m assuming that since you’re on my mailing list you’re at least vaguely interested in the things I make.)

Anyway, I’ve got to run Beacon in 20 minutes so I should probably stop doing this and start thinking like a Final Fantasy bad guy. *sweeps cape, disappears*
