This is your monthly catch-up email showcasing everything that is coming up for Postpartum Matters CIC and The Women’s Health Hub in the month ahead. If you are passionate about our work, or if you want to keep up to date with events, do consider subscribing below.
Welcome, how are you?
As we enter the last month of this first chapter of 2024, I feel myself wanting to take stock. To look around me and see all of the beautiful things sprouting up from the soil of life, whilst also choosing which things I may want to keep an eye on, may want to remove eventually.
How about you? Has the first chapter treat you well?
I really want these monthly emails to showcase all the wonderful things we have going on, that you can join in with, without you having to read a full essay - so I’ll get right to it -
You can find our up-to-date timetable of free-to-access workshops and support at The Women’s Health Hub by clicking here. We have a wonderful breast awareness talk set for Saturday, March 9th - held by two wonderful women passionate about educating others about their body. It is open to all ages - we’ll cover basic breast anatomy, how to check your breasts, how to know if something needs further attention as well as more specific questions such as what to expect at your first mammogram.
It’s a free workshop but we’re a small venue so I’d love it if you could book your spot by clicking here - it’s definitely one not to miss! (As a side note, would anyone not local to the North East benefit from us holding an online version of this talk? Let me know in the comments or by email - zoe@psotpartummatters.co.uk 🥰)
✨Our online community circle was last Sunday - watch out over the next couple days for the follow up letter filled with invitations and prompts to join in with in your own time
✨ The second installment of our Mindful Bookbinding course will be released in time to connect with and celebrate Ostara on March 20th, all whilst showing you how to hand sew your very own journal (plus instant access to the first installment to get you started). You can read more about the whole process here.
✨Fortnightly check-in threads for paid subscribers where we connect with the seasons and with each other
These Substack offerings are specifically for my paid membership - it’s £6 a month or £60 for the year and you are so so welcome to join us 💕 all funds go directly towards funding the non-profit.
With International Women’s Day on Friday I’d like to make a case for conscious consumerism. The origins of IWD are super interesting, if you fancy a read, and the day has been celebrated for over a century in one form or another. However, recently over the last few years it has been more and more co-opted by big corporations and consumerist culture to ask women to work for free and to sell us stuff at a ‘discount’ that doesn’t really benefit us at all.
So, this IWD, my ask for you is to use your money to support women - be that donating to women-led and women-focused charities or shopping at women-ran indie businesses or supporting your favourite female creative. Oftentimes we can’t stretch to the marketing strategies and the discounts of these bigger companies landing in your inbox, but we are doing the work, we are fighting your corner and your financial support would mean the world.
has kindly gifted Postpartum Matters CIC an affiliate link to one of her endeavours - The Feminist Shop. It’s filled with really cool stuff and wonderful books and buying through this link below would be supporting both her and me - how magic is that!
You can also make a one off payment of support for the CIC here.
Or perhaps you’d like to book onto our Wild Wreath Making Spring Edition? It’s taking place at the hub on April 7th and I’m bringing along my famous wild nettle & lemon cake 🤩.
Sending love and sparkles for the month ahead,
P.S. Some of my February highlights, I’d love to hear of yours in the comments x
