Hi love,
How are you? How has May been for you?
I am writing this in advance, at the start of the half term and, honestly, I’m feeling pretty worn down. It’s been a busy month and I’m feeling it.
With radio appearances, lots and lots and lots of baking, holding workshops at The Women’s Health Hub, supporting new mamas & their babies - it’s been busy and beautiful and a juggle and magic all at once.
When we decided to set up The Women’s Health Hub, I had dreams of the hours we could spend gathering & connecting with local women+, supporting & learning from them at the same time. I did not quite account for the media attention, the meetings with other local service providers, the liaising with potential funders.
All of that has had to find some kind of space in the already overloaded timetable.
Not the slow lived existence I was seeing for myself but important nonetheless.
The highlights for me have been the Empowered Girls Club & the Queer Social.
These were the two events this month where I got that tingly ‘this is it’ feeling - like everything we had worked for was for this moment, to be able to create the room for this space. For these wonderful people.
It has been so beautiful connecting with the girls - it all starts here for them, you know? And if we can empower them now, teach them body autonomy now - then who knows the impact that will have when/ if they decide to navigate birth, postpartum & beyond.
June is set to be another busy one.
I have my Red Tent Doula Preparation training over the weekend - this has been on my vision board forever and I am so excited to finally be going.
(You can enquire about doula support here)
Myself & Lottie will also be at The Women Only Wellness Festival on June 10th, and we have a beautiful guided meditation & journaling activity for you all there.
I also have my brand new online course starting in celebration of Litha - the summer solstice at the end of the month.
This is a year long adventure, with workbooks released at every turn of the Celtic wheel. I will be guiding you through cultivating a journaling & mindfulness practice, whilst supporting you to connect to the cycles and seasons of the year all whilst showing you how to hand make your very own journal!
I am honestly SO excited for this. It’s going to be so beautiful.
We have decided to move our newsletter over to Substack for a few reasons.
Firstly it’s free but, most importantly, it feels a lot nicer and easier to use than other platforms we have tried. It will also give us a space to produce more of the in-depth, long form content that other socials just don’t have the space for (you know I like to ramble - I may even do a deep dive back on the ‘ol blog of ‘21 and see what posts I can drag over here).
It shouldn’t make much of a difference to you if you don’t want it to but it does mean you can interact with us more here, if you wish, and all of our posts will be archived for you to be able to return to them.
You can continue to view this newsletter in your web browser or you can choose to move over to the app and get all of the amazing benefits there.
As part of our move we have smushed all our mailing lists together - as such you may be getting emails for things you’re not interested in. It’s super easy to manage your subscription by clicking the ‘manage subscription’ button under your profile picture on the right hand side of your computer screen.
If you need any help at all with this, please do not hesitate to email zoe@postpartummatters.co.uk - we really value your presence here and want to make it as enjoyable & relevant as possible.
We hope you like it here and we will be exploring the best way to use this platform over the coming months. We really appreciate your patience whilst we try to find our way, as the CIC continues to grow and as a group of people who are just super passionate about making long term change continue to learn all the business/ marketing/ bleuh stuff that comes along with that.
The cool thing about Substack is that you can pledge to support us.
It’s £5 a month or £50 for the year and this will give you access to loads more additional weekly content, including blog posts, Q&As with specialists in Women’s Health, as well as an online community of like-minded and inspired people.
We also have a Founding Members subscription for £240 where you can support our work, the CIC, the Women’s Health Hub & let us promote your business or thank you in all of our online communications.
Thank you so much for being here, for supporting us & all that we do.
We would love to hear from you in the comments - what are you most looking forward to in June?
What are you proud of achieving in May? (no matter how big or small)
How are you feeling about our move over to Substack?
That’s a wrap for this months newsletter.
Sending you so much love for the month ahead.
