Hello!
I hope you’re having a lovely summer ☀️
I’m popping in today with a free gift and an offer, scroll down to the bottom for both ✨
I have been holding Mindful Bookbinding groups for over a year now, both in person & online. Mindful Bookbinding is a year long course which aims to hold you in the passing of the seasons, welcoming in more mindful pauses to your day, all whilst showing you how to make your very own hand-sewn journal. I offer these groups as a paid for service to help to fund the free-to-access community space I run in my hometown - The Women’s Health Hub.
At the beginning of 2024 I brought this course to Substack (you can find all the current installments here) and, as part of that, I really wanted to push myself to make video tutorials which would showcase the skills I was sharing in the workbooks I also release as part of the course.
Speaking and being on video is not my favourite thing to do! But I am bearing with it and continuing to push myself to learn and become comfortable with this sort of content. Until now, I’ve kept it behind a paywall - largely so I could comfort myself that only my handful of wonderful paid subscribers would see them.
However, today, I want to share a tutorial with all of my newsletter subscribers 🥰 to thank you for being here, to hopefully encourage some of you to jump over to my paid membership for the more in depth bookbinding work and to offer you my small pamphlet book kit that I have put together.
I put these packs together originally for the Make & Mend festival in July. I ran it as a drop-in activity and it was SO much fun. We made SEVENTY books together and it was so lovely to meet, chat and connect with so many wonderful women, all whilst making books & chatting about journaling.
I ended up buying far too much paper (because autism and because there was a deal 😆) and so I have quite a few spare.
I’d love to offer them up to my paid subscribers here❤️ so, if you are a paid subscriber and you would like one - please drop me a DM with your address! And, if you are not currently a paid subscriber you can manage your subscription here -
All paid subscriptions go directly into the non-profit bank account and help us to continue to offer all of the free workshops we run every day at The Women’s Health Hub 🥰.
If you would like a pack but do not want to subscribe, you can also purchase one from me. I don’t have the headspace to figure out how to easily sell things online - and tools like Shopify feel excessive for just one tiny product - so I would love it if you could make a donation at the link below and then message or email me1 with your address. I am based in the UK and so please do consider that when donating, as postage to other parts of the world will obviously cost more 🙏🏼😊.
✨My pamphlet book pack or -
✨Some paper - can be any paper really, if you want to use watercolours or paints then you will want quite thick paper (the pack I’m selling is 170gsm) and if you’re wanting to write then you may want dotted or lined paper that you can cut down. You can also repurpose used envelopes or scrap paper, if you wish. We’re going to be folding everything in half - so bare that in mind when you choose the size of paper.
✨Some card or more decorative paper for the cover
✨A bone folder or something else with an edge that you can use to make crisp folds in your paper
✨An awl or something sharp to make holes with
✨Waxed cotton thread (for this type of book, you could probably get away with just embroidery thread)
✨A needle for sewing
✨Stuff to decorate your front cover with! 😊
You can get lots of the above from The Small Print Company - it’s not an affiliate link or anything, I just really love their stuff, especially the waxed thread, it’s just the right thickness.
And here are some of the wonderful books folks made with me at The Make & Mend festival 😍
I’d love to see how you decorate yours! And to hear all about how you plan to use it 🥰
Sending love & creative sparkles,
My email is zoe@postpartummatters.co.uk 🙏🏼
