Pondero Brief: Make's ChatGPT plugin is live; audit loops before October 1

Pondero Brief - SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2026

Cursor's coordinator agent, the Codex harness as a public API, Gemini lands on Windows.
pondero. BRIEF · SEP 11, 2026

Make's ChatGPT plugin is live on every plan. October 1 is the date to prep for.

Three things moved on Make since our August review: a ChatGPT front door on September 9, Claude Fable 5.1 in the AI modules on September 4, and the cycles-per-run setting disappearing October 1.

The plugin is a new control surface over the same cloud engine, not a second runtime. Your real cost exposure sits elsewhere: in which model you wire into the AI modules, and in looping scenarios you have not baselined before October 1. Read the full Make review →

  • OpenAI opened the Codex harness to any developer with an API key

Tools & How-To

Cursor Projects hands a coordinator agent the whole body of work.

Launched September 10. Describe a feature or migration; a coordinator builds the plan, dispatches subagents to cloud-hosted machines, manages results. Closing your laptop stops nothing. Cursor says engineers who used Projects as their primary workflow merged six times as many pull requests as those who did not; new users running it alongside the normal IDE merged 30% more. Read those as vendor numbers with selection effects baked in. The real implication: the bottleneck moves to review, so decide who owns the queue before you point a coordinator at a several-hundred-PR migration.

OpenAI put the Codex harness behind one API call.

The Agents API went to public beta on September 10 (OpenAI's announcement). Any API key now gets session management, context compaction, sandboxed code execution, file editing, artifact generation, MCP server connections, and delegation to subagents with independent contexts. No extra fee beyond model tokens, tool calls, and container compute. The scaffolding most teams hand-rolled is now platform code. Two gates to check first: data residency is US-only and Zero Data Retention is not supported, which rules out regulated data today. An agent is only as good as what you feed it. Firecrawl turns arbitrary pages into LLM-ready text in one call.

Gemini's Windows app claims Alt+Space.

Native client for Windows 10 and 11 at gemini.google/desktop (Google's post). Alt+Space floats Gemini over whatever you are working in; Gemini Spark handles multi-step tasks against Gmail and Drive; Nano Banana generates images; Gemini Omni handles video. Mind the chord: Alt+Space already opens the Windows control menu and is PowerToys Run's default hotkey (Microsoft's docs), so anyone with a launcher picks a fight on install day. Screen awareness and voice control across local apps are missing from the Windows build, per 9to5Google. The shortcut is the product: an assistant you summon without a context switch gets used daily; one that lives in a browser tab quietly does not. Granola applies the same logic to meetings: it writes notes in the background so you never have to copy context into a chat window.

Quick Hits
• ChatGPT for Financial Services. OpenAI launched a finance vertical on September 10 with Morgan Stanley and Evercore as design partners, running GPT-6 Astra against live Bloomberg, PitchBook, FactSet, Daloopa, and LSEG News data through roughly 50 MCP connectors. Access requires ChatGPT Enterprise plus direct OpenAI clearance. The transferable lesson: the model is the commodity, licensed data feeds are the moat, MCP is the plumbing. Details →
