Alphabet's $84.75 billion equity capital raise closes today, June 5. The deal, priced June 2 and upsized from $80 billion, splits into three tranches: a $30 billion underwritten public offering, a $40 billion at-the-market program starting Q3, and a $10 billion private placement from Berkshire Hathaway. Proceeds are earmarked entirely for AI infrastructure and compute. The previous all-time record was Petroleo Brasileiro's $70 billion in 2010. Why it matters. When a single company commits $85 billion to GPU and data-center buildout, it reprices the compute layer for everyone building on Google Cloud and Vertex AI. TechCrunch analysis.
