Just when the Dude's post on how HR isn't your friend goes live, he stumbles upon this long form article in The Atlantic about How McKinsey Destroyed the Middle Class. Chilling reading, but it is totally worth the investment in time.
In short, it is an essay on the rise of management consultants, and how they drove the hollowing out of middle management that was the gateway to solid middle-class lifestyles, leaving a lot fewer rungs to grasp for, and a lot less hope to attain some semblance of success.
Reading this, the Dude nods his head, and uttered the word "fuck" more times than he can shake a stick at...
