Give 'Em the Glasscock

I figured it would be fun to share a little baseball history with some of the most unique/funny names and nicknames of the Olde Timey baseball days. Today … “Pebbly Jack” Glasscock!

Quick reminder: This email goes out every morning by 8a (eastern). If you don’t have it by then, something is going on with the service. If anything looks weird on your end, please email me directly at plundertheunder@gmail.com

Who knew Glasscock was good for chewing and smoking?

Morning! Since I’m often looking for ways to open these emails, I figured it would be fun to share a little baseball history with some of the most unique/funny names and nicknames of the Olde Timey baseball days. Today … “Pebbly Jack” Glasscock!

A 4th grade dropout, “Pebbly Jack” got the nickname for constantly picking pebbles off the field that he felt would hamper his defense. To his credit, ol’ Mr. Glasscock led the NL in fielding percentage seven different seasons and held some fielding records that weren’t broken until Ozzie Smith played in the 1980’s. And Ozzie had an unfair advantage … HE ACTUALLY GOT TO USE A GLOVE. Pebbly Jack could only use his bare hands! Glasscock died in 1947 at the age of 89.

Let’s jump into the plays for Tuesday, May 13th. Reminder SIGN UP FOR PREMIUM (if ya ain’t already) to get the full list.

Welp … Povich stinks and both Buxton and Correa have solid numbers against the pitch mix. Buxton’s (listed above) are slightly better, but both are in play today. For what it’s worth Buxton is batting .286 this week while Correa is hitting .333.

TARGET MARKETS: H+R+R/TB (1u), HR (0.3u-0.5u for boosts and such), hit parlays, H+R+R parlays

Quick note on the Target Markets section: These are the markets I’m going to be line/promo shopping for when the markets open up. Sometimes I will avoid them if they’re too juicy or the odds are just garbage (-130 and worse). Unit recommendation is a general guideline, but could change based on value. For our next play, let’s look no further than the other side of that same game. I can never seen to catch the Orioles on the right night, but the numbers are solid for both guys (O’Hearn listed above).
