June events

Happy Pride month, comrades! While we have been hard at work on our next issue, we’ve also planned a few events in the coming weeks. If you’re in New York or San Francisco, don’t miss these.

  • June 14 at Boyfriend Co-op we will be screening Of Maggots and Men, a 2009 tribute to gay communist Sergei Eisenstein’s 1925 classic Battleship Potemkin, filmed with the “the largest cast of trans actors ever assembled.” Register here.

  • June 18 at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art we will co-present a panel with Acacia Magazine exploring archives made by and for queer Muslims. Panelists Eman Abdelhadi, Dr. Darien A. Williams, Hussein Omar, and Nour Annan will discuss their unique contributions, followed by a musical performance from writer, performer, and social justice advocate H. Sinno. Publishers Khajistan Press, Bilna’es, Acacia, and Pinko will have titles available for sale. Tickets are available here.

  • June 24th at Et al. Books in San Francisco, we will co-host a panel with Left in the Bay on the legacy and lessons from the White Night Riots, with conversation between journalists, organizers and veterans of the riot Ruth Mahaney, Gwenn Craig, Charlie Hinton, and Randy Alfred. Register here.

Our Issue 5 fundraiser is still in progress! We’re about a quarter of the way there, and the month is almost halfway over. Can you help us reach our goal of $10k by the end of Pride? Donate today!
