Ideal Monday #2 - Emotional Intelligence

How IdealDay helps

Happy Monday!

What exactly is “emotional intelligence”?

Personally, I believe it can be defined a few different ways.

A textbook version: Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to notice what you’re feeling, understand why you’re feeling it, and use that information to make better decisions.

It’s the difference between snapping at your partner because you had a rough day at work, and recognizing “work was rough today” before you let that happen.

Let me ask you a question:

How are you feeling right now?

That little pause you just took - that is emotional intelligence in action.

Emotional intelligence can be broken down into four buckets:

  • Self-awareness: knowing what you feel

  • Self-management: choosing what to do about that

  • Social awareness: reading the room

  • Relationship management: handling the room well

Where IdealDay comes in:

When you complete days in the app, you enter a daily feeling rating. It might feel like you’re just logging a number, but you’re actually building a dataset about yourself.

Over time, patterns start to show up:

  • The days you complete your morning routine - how does that feel?

  • That habit you want to do but keep skipping - how is that impacting your mood?

  • The days that are a 9/10 or 10/10 - what was on the schedule? What was not on the schedule?

You’re not just tracking, you’re correlating. Your past self is leaving notes for your future self.

Try this:

For the next 1-4 weeks, at the end of each week, look over your days. Compare your feeling scores to the habits you completed, the tasks you completed, and how busy your schedule was. We’re betting you’ll start to spot some patterns.

If you’re not using IdealDay yet, you can start now for free. No credit card required. I hope you love it.

Happy planning!
