π«π¦© PPC Summer 2022 Comeback starts TONIGHT at Barcade at 7:30! π¦©π«
Friends!
All right now, it's the moment we've all been waiting for β NIGHT ONE STARTS TONIGHT BABY!
Before I get into any details, here's what you really need to know: do you wanna come flip tonight and meet a bunch of rad people? Show up at Barcade at 7:30pm, find us at one of the tables, and you are in, buddy. No experience needed, no pressure, no commitments, nothin β as we say, good vibes are the only requirement.
Here's how it's gonna go down
At 7:30 we'll start signing folks up for the night, and we'll draw groups and get started at 8. Once we draw, the groups are locked, so if you're late I can't guarantee we can get you in β be a pal and show up with time to spare!
You'll get put into a random group with 2 or 3 other people, and that will be the crew you play with for the night.
Each group will play 4 games together (we'll go over how the games get picked before we start), and you'll all be playing against one another.
We don't record scores in this format βΒ instead you'll earn points based on how you do against your group members on each game. So if you take first place on Dr. Dude, that's worth 7 points, and if you take last place on Funhouse, that's worth 1 point.
After your group finishes all four games, you'll turn your score card in to me, and that's a wrap for night 1. We'll post the standings each week, which will determine seeding for our big final tournament (more on that to come).
You'll almost certainly be paired with at least one group member who's played multiple seasons with us and knows the ropes already. They'll help make sure everything goes smoothly, so don't stress if this sounds like a lot β you'll have the whole thing down by the end of the night.
That's it! Again, if you're interested in playing with us at all, just come through and we'll take care of the rest.
A few reminders for the vets
We're still gonna allow 1 extra ball and plunge the rest
Everyone's lowest 2 scores will get dropped when calculating final standings
If you find yourself needing a ruling, or are in a stuck ball situation, come grab me, Nate Spence, or David Schumeister
If there are active credits on the game, players who didn't pay should drop tokens in the red bird at the signup table (which get paid back out as finals prizes).
Keep an eye on your group and help people avoid the huge bummer of playing out of turn.
Finally, for everyone new and old
Our club stays cool because everyone is cool to each other!
If you're looking for good times with good people and friendly competition, we've got you covered. If you're looking to get hammered and/or rowdy about WPPRs, we're gonna ask ya to do that elsewhere.
To make sure everything stays cool, we've adopted a Code of Conduct that applies to all of our events. Please check it out before you roll down tonight, as it helps us continue to make a space we all want to hang out in.
On to some house-keeping items...

Covid β it's around
Again, not gonna post this too many more times, cause you all know what's up. Here's the high level:
Covid-wise, hanging at the bar is not exactly low-risk behavior.
We don't have any mask rules, but we do expect you to be cool with folks who mask up and to use your judgment in affording everyone a little space when they need it.
If you're sick, please don't show up and make us ask you if you're sick. Everyone can skip up to two weeks without affecting their final scores, so please look out for your fellow club members and skip the meetups until you're healthy again.
Papermill Food Hub
When Covid first hit, a bunch of us got hooked up with the champions at Papermill Food Hub, a local mutual aid group delivering diapers, food, and essentials to families in Kensington and North Philly.
Annabel and her team of volunteers have served over 100 families every week since 2020, and they run this thing entirely on donations from you and me. Just $25 hooks up a family for a whole week.
We're gonna table and collect funds for the Hub all season, and if you're interested in getting involved (particularly if you've got a car and can spare two hours on Sundays), come see me, Kian, or Darby and we'll give you the hard sell.
OKAY! IT'S HAPPENING! WOW! SEE YOU TONIGHT!
