reply-to: production@columbiacountyplayers.com
Location:
Hudson, NY
Type: Seasonal / Contract (June-August 2026)
Reports To: Directors/Managing Producer
Pay Rate: $2800
About the Role
Columbia County Players is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Stage Manager to help bring our summer Shakespeare production to life! We’re searching for someone who thrives in organized chaos, loves working with creative teams, and can keep a cast and crew running smoothly from first rehearsal to final bow.
As the Stage Manager, you’ll be the communication hub between the director, actors, crew, and production team — making sure everything runs safely, efficiently, and on time. If you have a passion for theatre and a knack for managing all the moving parts that make great shows happen, we’d love to have you on our team.
What You’ll Do
- Create and distribute weekly rehearsal and call schedules in coordination with the directors.
- Track attendance and communicate any absences, lateness, or scheduling conflicts.
- Run rehearsals: set and manage break times, cue lines, and keep things running on schedule.
- Record all blocking, props notes, and tech cues.
- Organize and maintain all props, furniture, and rehearsal spaces.
- Coordinate with the tech team to ensure smooth transitions between scenes and set changes.
- Supervise and collaborate with the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) to organize and execute seamless set and prop changes.
- Send out daily rehearsal or performance reports and maintain clear communication with cast and crew via email, phone, and text.
- Run fight calls as needed and make sure everyone stays safe onstage and backstage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional rehearsal and performance environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Prior stage management experience, especially with casts of 10 or more
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure.
- Able to multitask and troubleshoot in real time.
- A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Comfortable being on your feet for a couple of hours and lifting up to 40–50 lbs when needed.
- Someone who loves collaboration and helping creative visions come to life.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
Columbia County Players is a non-profit organization made up of passionate artists dedicated to creating meaningful, entertaining theatre experiences. You’ll get to work hands-on with a talented team and bring a timeless Shakespeare story to our stage — all while growing your skills in a supportive and energetic environment.
