Bobblehead
BOBBLEHEAD
Normally being an observer rather than an active participant in the political events that unfold around us daily, I am more free to make observations than I would be otherwise. The last presidential election case in point.
The American public elected a bobblehead to the presidency of the United States. Before and since the election, I have spent many an hour trying to analyze how Donald Trump could be elected to anything, let alone, the presidency of the United States. And finally, it came to me: we didn't elect Donald Trump, we elected a bobblehead as President of the United States, not the real person.
Now, this is not to disparage Donald Trump, for he is what he is. In regard to bobbleheads, I am really quite ignorant. To my knowledge there are no bobbleheads in my house nor am I or any of my housemates affectionados of bobbleheads. I am aware of their popularity. There is a National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee and a National Bobblehead Day on 7 January. I must say that I was unaware of the extent of Bobblehead popularity.
From what I can gather however, the actual Donald is a perfect bobblehead in that he has emulated his own bobblehead. This is in addition to the normal progression; usually one has achieved a particular notoriety or status in society before a bobblehead appears. True Donald did achieve the necessary status, but what then occurred is that Donald emulated the aura of his own bobblehead; he became the embodiment of his bobbleheadness.
Now there is something concerning about this situation; it is quite out of the ordinary. Fame and notoriety are normally not healthy for the person achieving them and they certainly have not been for Donald Trump. But the people of this country, having no clue about Trump's history, abilities, or capacities (they have made no effort to know or care) and only being aware of his bobblehead, voted for the bobblehead - - the people of this country voted a bobblehead into the presidency of the United States.
This is not an indictment of Donald Trump, for again he is what he is; it is an indictment of the American public and the view that we Americans are actually an advanced, modern, intelligent society with continued unlimited possibilities. What nonsense.
