Pharma & Biotech Jobs Weekly Roundup - April 7, 2025

Last week (March 30 - April 6, 2025) we saw 2,438 job ads posted in the US amongst the 53 companies we track, and we started tracking Sarepta Therapeutics.

Last Week's Key Findings

  • Job Posting Leaders: Sanofi (468 new postings), followed by Abbott and Medtronic

  • Growing Sectors: Medical Affairs showing strongest week-over-week growth (37.0%)

  • Compensation Leaders: Medical Affairs commanding top compensation ($166.1K-$235.0K)

Notable Job Ad Deviation: Moderna showed a 78.6% decrease from its 8-week average - posting 6 jobs compared to the usual 28 weekly average. Sanofi, Merck, and Truveta, on the other hand, increased job postings by 67 - 69%!

Salary Analysis

Starting salaries increased by 24.5% compared to last week. Maximum salary offers increased by 16.5%. This is likely due to the increase in management-level positions discussed below.

  • Company Comparisons: Eikon Therapeutics offering highest starting salaries ($188.0K)

Management vs. Individual Contributor Roles

  • Overall Split: 48.8% management vs 51.2% individual contributor positions

  • Volume: 1,189 management roles posted (+14.2% from previous week)

  • Management Focus: GSK leads with 70.0% management roles

We were nearly evenly split last week between management and IC roles, though management level job postings did increase week over week. GSK stood out as hiring heavily for management level.

Seniority Level Breakdown

  • Associate: 253 jobs (26.9% of total) (-6.6% from last week)

  • Entry: 40 jobs (4.2% of total) (-9.1% from last week)

  • Senior: 649 jobs (68.9% of total) (-6.1% from last week)

Still a sad state of affairs for entry level postitions. Most positions we are tracking are senior level.

Remote Work Trends

  • Most remote-friendly: Hims and Hers Health (90.0% remote)

  • Industry average: 14.2% of positions

Remote opportunities increased by 2.5% compared to last week, while remaining low except for remote-first companies.

Market Developments

  • Location Concentrations: Boston Metro Area (132 jobs) and Rahway, New Jersey

  • Notable Activity: Moderna (-78.6% from average of 28 jobs)
