[Petit Fours #459] On AI misfits, Wizards of Oz, and turn management
Hi, all! Without further ado, here’s what I’ve got for you today:
#1 Azar Raoufi has a new article out, entitled Transmodality in multilingual workplaces: Turn management and device-mediated interaction with Google Translate. It’s not a text written for a general audience but it does speak to issues of broad interest to the many of us who navigate multilingual – and increasingly AI-infused – work lives.
#2 This week and last are focused on kicking off our new national WASP-HS research group Autonomous Systems and Robotics. You can read a little about this and other ongoing research projects that our local group is involved in on our Stockholm Technology and Interaction Research (STIR) group’s website.
#3 I do not suffer from conference FOMO much these days, but HRI 2026 seems like one it will be a pity to miss out on, especially these workshops on Unpacking Lived Experiences of Wizards of Oz and Articulating the Value of Design Research for HRI.
