[Petit Fours #437] On imagination, intimate technologies, and summer reading
Hi, everyone! Here comes the final Petit Fours before I log out for summer:
#1 Our DIS 2025 pictorial Designing for Secondary Users of Intimate Technologies won an Honorable Mention! The first author, Alejandra Gómez Ortega, will be presenting the work on July 9.
#2 For another visually rich publication, check out the critique that we will present at the Aarhus decennial conference in August: Nordic Perspectives on Algorithmic Systems: Cards as a Playful Intervention into the Crisis of Imagination. Kudos to first author Rebeca Blanco Cardozo for pulling this together!
#3 Running the FemTech and Feminist Tech focus period was utterly exhausting but more so one of the more rewarding and joyful things I've done at work in a long time. Here’s an initial write-up describing our activities: Reimagining Digital Futures through a Feminist Lens: Inside the FemTech and Feminist Tech Focus Period
#4 It would not feel like summer holidays are about to start if I didn’t ask you this: What should I read? Please share your recent favorite books, especially if those are fiction or poetry.
