[Petit Fours #410] On license to critique, safeguards, and visible mending
Hi, all! Without further ado, here’s what I’ve got for you today:
#1 Last week at CSCW, I got to present right after David Widder (whose work our paper draws upon) had given an excellent talk on Power and Play: Investigating “License to Critique” in Teams’ AI Ethics Discussions.
#2 Another highlight was meeting Skyler Wang who was at the conference to present an extremely interesting paper on hospitality platforms: How Platform Exchange and Safeguards Matter: The Case of Sexual Risk in Airbnb and Couchsurfing.
#3 It was also a joy to watch as Srravya Chandhiramowuli present Making Data Work Count, a paper she and her co-authors got an Honorable Mention award for!
#4 This week, I’m making room in my mind for things other than work. For one, I’m a little obsessed with visible mending, especially this short piece (in Finnish): Paikka vaatteessa on kunniamerkki
