🌱✌️ Permapeople Update - Plants. A lot more.
Hey Permapeople,
A lot has been going on in the last days, and I want to share some news & progress with you.
First of all, I wanted to let you know that I am not doing this project alone but rather with everyone willing to contribute. Simon joined very early when I posted about the idea of a platform in a permaculture forum called permies. One cool thing he did was setting up a subreddit for a better way of bi-directional communication. Please feel free to join us here: /r/BackyardFarmers/.
While working on the guild planner, I came back to a very early idea: add more plants from other resources. I think the tools build on top of the database can only be as good as the data itself, so I started in parallel to import around ~8500 plants from Plants for a Future. This enables us to improve the data, make it more accessible to everyone, and open up for more broad collaboration. In the best case, we can give back the improvements we created. It's not done yet, but I'll let you know when it is. Please feel free to share your opinion on that move!
I still feel the urge to talk more about the wider concepts on growing plants by yourself, so I wrote another blog post titled There are many reasons why everyone should grow some plants, but you need just one. Please go check it out and join the conversation here.
That's it for now. Please reach out to me with questions and feedback. I am reading and answering every mail.
Happy growing 🌱✌️,
Ben
