🌱✌️Garden journal updated / Dashboard / Discord
Hey Permapeople,
Long time no see! We’ve all been busy the summer with life and our gardens. Here in Berlin I am dealing with a massive drought. There was very little rain over the last few months, the garden is dry, most plants show heat stress symptoms and I am not willing to water everything with tap water. The perennials do much better than the annuals, so I am focusing on these to get through the dry heat. Besides this bad news, I got a decent amount of strawberries and mulberries, and the tomatoes on the balcony are looking good so far. Also a Hubbard squash (I got seeds from the marketplace) created one good looking fruit. How are you gardens coming along? We always love to look at your pictures, so please send them our way on Twitter, Reddit, the garden journal, or by replying here.
Garden journal update
The garden journal is nice to keep track of different things that happen in your garden throughout the year but we felt it lacked some kind of grouping so you can keep track of projects, experiments or garden beds and come back and add updates to them.
Simon made a video, which shows how it works below, take a look at Gabeguz’ garlic thread or Ben’s potato experiment or consider start writing your own. As always, please let us know what you think!
Dashboard Idea
We see that a lot of you start out on the platform, contribute and take part in the community but loose interest after some time. We think it is a problem that you feel pretty alone on the platform because you cannot see others and their activity. This is why we’ve started to ideate on a sort of gardening dashboard which shows your actions, activities of others and other useful information for your garden work. Please take a look at the screenshot of our current design concept and please let us know any feedback, feelings, ideas around that topic! What would help you? What could we do to make Permapeople more useful for you?
Discord anyone?
We’ve been thinking for some time to start a Discord server for the community, so we have a direct way to all communicate, share ideas and help others. But we aren’t sure if you would be interested. If you are, just hit reply with a “Yes!”.
Thanks for reading this far! Please reach out with any questions by replying to this mail. We are reading and answering every message.
Happy summer gardening 🌱✌️,
Cat, Sim & Ben
