A Volcano is a Volcano is a Volcano, Anne Carson

Via Elisabeth posting a page of this extremely hard to search for collection of short stories by Carson—I found an out of print riso compilation but I’m not even sure it’s the same one. Nothing on BookFinder either. How mysterious!

There’s nothing glamorous about a monkey doing cocaine.

Michael Gracey in an interview with The Independent

I think really any drug that requires putting stuff in one’s nose is unglamorous no matter the species, but that’s me. If cocaine has any associations with glamour it’s because it’s usually in close proximity to money.

I don’t know a lot about Robbie Williams but he seems like a deeply ambivalent dude (appeared in a Soft Play music video but also maybe supported RFK Jr.??), and Michael Gracey is also the filmmaker behind that “What if PT Barnum Wasn’t The Worst Guy??” movie that I didn’t see. And yet, I do respect the commitment to the bit of making a classic pop star biopic but replacing the pop star with a motion-capture chimpanzee and playing the whole thing completely straight. It feels more like a weird art installation move than a multiplex movie, and I’m impressed they got away with it.
