📦 Moving from Zoom to Discord!

We are moving our monthly poetry reading to Discord! Discord gives our little community features that will be very helpful for all:

  • Free video calls on Discord are not time-limited. Our free Zoom calls were capped at 40 minutes in length. Feel free to join Discord calls early to say hi to other poets, or stay late!

  • If our community members would like to share upcoming events or submissions to literary journals, there is an ongoing chat for that.

Join the Poets Day In community today!

A screenshot of the Discord app on macOS, with several callouts. The #ask-for-help text channel is a great place to ask for help. If Ben isn't available perhaps someone else can help too. The #announcements channel: Do you have a book coming out? Something else going on? Tell everyone here! The #upcoming-events channel: Is there a poetry reading soon? This is a great place to announce that! In the Voice Channels, the Open Mike channel is where we'll meet 10:30AM Pacific every Third Saturday. This graphic also highlights the mute/unmute button, the deafen button, and the Settings button. Under Settings I recommend you go to Voice & Video to adjust for the call.

For anyone that would like to test their connection, I will be holding an open office hour at 10:30am Pacific this Friday in the Open Mike voice channel in Discord, and will stay online till at least 11am. Otherwise, you can post questions in the #ask-for-help Information channel anytime, and I will get back to you.

Our next open mike will be Saturday 9/21 at 10:30am

In two weeks, our regular open mike will occur. If you're interested in being part of it, please sign up for a time on this Google document. I’ll send another invite next weekend, per usual.

Hope to see you in Discord!
Ben.
