Paso a Paso Tango Technique Workshop - Registration of Interest
This is a registration of interest that we are collecting for organising a workshop on tango technique in Totnes, Devon. Please leave your name and email if you might be interested in attending the workshop. *THIS IS NOT A REGISTRATION OF ATTENDANCE, NAMES AND EMAILS ARE COLLECTED ONLY FOR EVALUATION AND ORGANISATION PURPOSES* Paso a Paso Tango Technique are 2-hours foundational workshops to work on individual technique and body awareness. Their goal is to deepen and deconstruct the mechanics...
A good technique is foundational to execute movement effortlessly and creatively, in communication with our dance partner.
While tango is a couple dance, having a greater awareness and control of our own bodies improves our confidence and balance, together with expanding our range of possibilities for interpretation during the dance.

Alex’s tango column
To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, this month’s tango curiosity focuses on women in tango. Women, compared to their male counterparts, are often relegated to secondary roles in the tango scene, as musicians as well as dancers. Back in 2017 I started a little artistic project of tango portraits called “Mujercitas“ (“Little Women”), in which I studied and digitally reworked some pictures of iconic women in tango. I made four portraits in total (though I might revise this project in the future and add more portraits), which you can find here:

Moving forward to today’s tango women, Mujeres is an all-female artistic project that plays only tango written and interpreted by women. You can listen to some of their performances here:
For those who speak or read Spanish, here is an article on Infobae with an interview with them:
La orquesta de tango de mujeres que sólo toca música creada por su género: “La historia nos tenía muy atrás” - Infobae
Camila, Roberta, Amanda, Mónica y Amalia le dan vida a “Mujeres”, una orquesta de tango que se propone revalorizar composiciones de autoras de todas las épocas y romper con los clichés. “Mostrar el trabajo de mujeres compositoras es una manera de pasar al frente”
And…that’s a wrap!
