This Month on Party of One: ⚔️ ❌ 💫

Hey Party People!
WE’RE BACK! Our Autumn 2023 season is officially underway, as we hurtle towards our… wait, is that right? Eighth anniversary? That can’t be right.
Hoo boy, I need to sit down.
Anyway, lot of fun stuff to cover, so let’s take a look at what’s out now, what’s coming soon, and some extra fun things on the horizon:
Party of One Kills Every Monster
We’re kicking off our new season with something very special: A crossover with one of my favorite podcasts, Kill Every Monster.
Kill Every Monster is a 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons podcast. In each episode, we are joined by a guest to discuss the lore, mechanics, and story potential of classic D&D creatures. We debate tactics for maximizing these creatures in your game, and we ask the ever-important question: are they really a monster?
To replicate the Kill Every Monster experience on Party of One, we did something weird and ambitious: I sat down with both Dylan and Aram separately, over two episodes, to create a full Kill Every Monster experience with a wholly original creature creation. Both of those episodes are out now; check ‘em out!
Listen to part one: Exquisite Biome with Dylan >
Listen to part two: Ironsworn with Aram >
Bonus: Kill Every Monster: Modron
In an absolutely serendipitous bit of timing, my guest spot on Kill Every Monster dropped mere days before we hit publish on this crossover event! Go listen to me talk about the weird, mechanical Modrons, and how D&D has a pretty fucked up idea of what “neutrality” is.

What’s Coming Next Month

A tragic story of the dysfunctional relationship between two minor league baseball players struggling with addiction.

10/4: ⚔️ ❌ 💫

10/11: RIVALS with Tom Harrison
Two podcasters fucking hate each other. This is their story.
Bonus: Jeff on Anime Sickos Podcast
Y’all I got to appear on my favorite podcast and I’m so giddy I could cry. Anime Sickos Podcast.
10/18: Masks of the Masks with Hazel Amber Goswick
In this Powered by the Apocalypse love letter to Bronze Age superhero comics, two masked heroes come face to face with the most powerful superhero in the world… and hopefully they can live to tell about it.
10/25: Upon a Pirate’s Sea with Kendo
Yo-ho, yo-ho, and on the seas we go.
Behind the Scenes: Big Bad Con & Minnesota Web Fest
Immediately after I hit send on this email, I’m packing my bags and getting ready (jk. I'm already on the plane. -- Present Me) to take what can only be described as a seven-day cross-country tour. First, I’m touching down in San Francisco for Big Bad Con from 9/28 until 10/1. I’ve got a few panels running over the weekend; if you’re attending, I’d love to see you there!

Something I Liked, That You Might Too
Strong Songs With Kirk Hamilton
I love music. I love hearing people intelligently discuss music. I love pop music. And I love the way a well-constructed pop song can be made of so many moving parts that you don’t fully notice until someone points it out to you.
Strong Songs is a great fucking podcast.
Until next time, thank you for reading. Remember to fight the forces of fascism every single day. Remember that self-love and self-care are radical, defiant act of resistance. And as always…
Party On.
