Upcoming show, travels, and new websites
Hi friends! Our infrequent newsletter is back, delivering consistently on its promise of infrequency!
Where have I been?
Since my last letter, I took a trip to Colombia for three weeks -- which sounds familiar-ish to my winter migration, working remotely (like the year I went to Argentina+Uruguay). But this time, it was an actual vacation!
I made a home on the web for travelogues/things I feel like sharing in the wild, and if you like, you can find my vacation slideshow on world.thewebivore.com. It's like a vacation slideshow mixed with a journal, but fair warning, it's got a ton of pictures and I optimized very little so I wouldn't look at it on mobile data, personally.
What happened with the job?
I bought the ticket for Colombia not long after I signed my offer letter with HashiCorp, and I wrote a little about it in my first day blog post, if you'd like to read more.
Projects
Music
I made beats.thewebivore.com as a home for my live code recordings, currently organized alphabetically, aka the most useless of ordering. But now there's an entry point for my recordings!
I also have a performance coming up, so if you'll be at the Women in Tech Summit Northeast this coming Friday/Saturday, come check out my set at the networking reception on Friday night (it'll only be 30 minutes, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the event). [Un]fortunately (great for the event!) WITS Northeast is sold out, but I don't know, ask on Twitter if you can come to the reception :)
Writing: Queen of the Village
Inspired by a group of writers starting to gather at Indy Hall, I migrated an older project to a new home (custom hosting vs. WordPress.com, re-purchasing the domain).
It's inspired by the neighborhood blogs I loved when I lived in DC back when, and I want to write more (again) about the weird, interesting, wonderful things about Philadelphia.
Upcoming
In a few weeks, I'll be at Moogfest in Durham, NC. Not performing (as far as I know) but very interested to be around lots of other electronic musicians.
Other events/good things
I'm very excited to check out the renovated Parkway library.
In the coming week, the Maryanne Amacher: Perceptual Geographies has a few events to explore about this "pioneering sound artist".
A little further out, on May 3rd, is the Philly Who? podcast, at World Cafe Live (writing that it is a live podcast feels redundant considering the venue, but anyway). It's food-themed so I'm excited about that. And of course if you haven't checked out Philly Who? yet, it's starting to become required listening for knowing who's who in Philadelphia.
Thank you for listening, and thanks for being on the list :) If a friend would like to subscribe, this is the page for doing that.
