To Recurse Center and back, and a music show!
👋 Hello! First of all, thanks for subscribing to this, my infrequent newsletter. I have a few updates, and a show coming up to share!
Writings
This month on The Webivore, I wrote about every day of a 5 day mini-retreat I did at the Recurse Center (RC). You can start here with Day 1.
My last day working with IOpipe was January 4th, and I wrote about that, and my general plans for the future.
Besides spending a week in New York, I ventured further North to StarCon, and wrote my reflections on that conference.
Projects
I put the Codachrome group project from RC up online, so you can play with it, or you can watch a video demo of it being played with a MIDI keyboard. This was a collaboration with Jamie Brew, Liz Krane, and Max Pekarsky.
Next month, I hope to report to have a site for my live code music (made with TidalCycles, using Haskell). If you're curious about live code, I suggest reading this post covering Philly's first algorave, that I organized in collaboration with Sarah Groff Hennigh-Palermo of LiveCode.NYC.
Upcoming
This Sunday, February 3rd, I'll be playing my first ever show doing live code, at Bleep Bloop.
Sunday Feb 3, 2019; 1pm; 1090 Wycoff Ave, Ridgewood, Queens; $10
Other events
In cool things in Philly, I've got my eye on the Software Leadership Book Club on Feb 7, and in the world of dance, This is a Formation, which is Feb 8/9, and that comes with lots of other awesome surrounding events in the community. Do check those out!
Thanks for listening, and see you eventually! And thanks for being on the list :)
