I'd rather be dancing
Hello comrades,
A couple updates. When I last wrote you, I said that I'd quit my software engineering job and might write more about that later. That essay now exists! You can read it over on The Webivore: https://thewebivore.com/fetch-the-bolt-cutters/
A huge thanks to my friend Sue for her support and editing help for this, it was such a gift.
In the essay, I reference a new job and don't mention it because I think it might distract from the rest – I picked up a job teaching ballroom dance at Society Hill Dance Academy ("How?" – I responded to a job ad). I love getting to see people in person and work with a lot of wedding couples (they can book their first lesson free at https://societyhilldance.com/! ;) ) which is extremely extremely cute.
Here's the staff (and a couple guests characters) at the studio Halloween party:
My costume was being a PPA [parking] agent and gave out tickets for parking on the dance floor, a joke I was very proud of, but unfortunately led to people sometimes talking to me about their various PPA woes, which was less fun.
The studio has a show coming up as part of East Passyunk Ave's holiday festivities, December 12th at 4pm, and it's a rare occasion to see me perform (or at least that's the plan at the moment). It's free, and I'm in a performance and no I don't know when in the schedule I am. But it's free!
For those in the US, I hope you're having a nice Thanksgiving break, and well wishes for the dark days of winter for the Northern hemisphere. It's only a few weeks until solstice, and then the days start getting longer again!
