Emerging from winter
Hello pals!
I made a Patreon in January that I meant to email you all about. Here's the link if you'd like to support me in this way: https://www.patreon.com/pamelaspark. it was made in a fit of creative energy in January, "what if I spend more of my energy on this art stuff?"
Also in January, my "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" essay was republished in Technical.ly Philly, and I published my 2021 Year in Review.
I had plans to create lots of music in January ("Jam"-uary), but depression had other plans. Before I fell apart, I did manage to mash-up a livecode with my synth on top of it (the track is posted on Patreon).
The omicron wave of Covid was very stressful as dance teaching opportunities dried up when people (reasonably) isolated again. Trying to collaborate in music was similarly overwhelming trying to balance isolation with connection. I did not/have not figured this out.
As we enter into spring and begin to emerge from the winter, I'm starting to write again (maybe weekly?) and have a few posts to share.
- Reflections on a Giving Project, reflecting on the 6 months from 2020-2021 where I was part of a group that raised over $180k and give it away.
- "Anxiety is not a clean burning fuel" – I've been meditating on this phrase when it came up for me a few months ago, and wanted to memorialize it in a post.
- Pruning. In the spirit of "write about what's happening". I pruned some trees the other week. So I wrote about it. Includes a nice picture of harvest almond blossoms!
That's it for now, thanks for reading, until next irregularly sent newsletter,
Pam
