Changes, music, and the unknown future
Hello pals! An upcoming thing right at the top, and then some various updates (per the theme of this newsletter)
Upcoming event: Synthesizer jam Saturday October 28th @ Passyunk & Mifflin in The Low Pass pop-up shop. Look at this flyer I so artistically designed.
Not too long after the last note I sent to this list, I got injured dancing and had a lot of downtime to think about what I was up to (and to think about the importance of toes).
I decided to change my schedule so that I could pursue a social life outside the dance studio/more ownership of my schedule. The dance studio disagreed, and I experienced being fired from a job for the first time. I wrote out the dance studio arc on a baby Substack I started. If I do write more there, now you have the link to subscribe if you like.
Around the same time the dance studio saga suddenly (but not shockingly) ended, my part-time software engineering contract offered a full-time position and I took it. I started working at a coworking space because 5 days at the home office was too many days without the hum of people around.
This summer was full of adjusting to yet-again new realities, and there's a rhythm of sorts now. I continue to dance tango in the Philly scene occasionally, and started frequenting the blues dance scene.
I found a local arts space to use for teaching dance, so I am available for private lessons.
I've also been playing saxophone (something I picked up more seriously while injured) and formed a band with a few friends, and you will hear about it if we ever play a show in public.
And an upcoming music event: I'm co-organizing a synth jam THIS Saturday October 28th in East Passyunk, with The Low Pass pop-up (if you'd like to see a synthesizers/coffee-shop exist in Philadelphia, check it out).
Thank you for listening, and please take care of yourselves.
Pam
