Paloma Kop's Newsletter Paloma Kop's Newsletter

Dear readers,

I have a lot of things to share this time, so I will do my best to keep each one short! I will begin with recent and upcoming things first, and then we will peer backwards in time.

My biggest announcement, which I’ve been quietly working toward for the past two months, is a new thing called Paloma Kop’s AV Club. This is a subscription where members receive writing and small art objects from me over email and/or snail mail. It’s the next iteration of my Zine Club project, which I ran for the past two years, and which I shut down at the end of June as part of this transition.

The Zine → AV change will allow me to bridge my media art practice with my love of mailing people stuff. I plan to write about the techniques I use in my artwork, and continue exploring new types of physical objects to make. If you’d like to find out more about AV Club, check out the intro post: avclub.palomakop.tv/introducing-av-club

And if you decide to join, be sure to use the links on this page for a permanent 10% discount: avclub.palomakop.tv/hello-newsletter-reader

Flyer for show on August 7

If you’re in the New Haven area, we will be performing as REALITY ORP at this upcoming show on August 7. Our friends will also be performing a live audiovisual collaboration with handmade instruments!

JULY 6–12 — I organized a collaborative online event called Week of Patching, and as part of that I did some daily patching in TouchDesigner (a node-based app for creating realtime multimedia systems). I learned some new things, and wrote down notes and added videos of the output to this log page: palomakop.tv/notes/patch-log

JUNE 27 — Andrei and I performed live AV as REALITY ORP in upstate New York. More details and set recording here: palomakop.tv/blog/2026-07-03_reality-orp-performance-at-weird

The opening of Restructuring Realities exhibition

JUNE 7–JULY 5 — Our friend Kit Young curated Restructuring Realities, a group video art show at the Ely Center of Contemporary Art here in New Haven, CT. My work was on view, along with many others from our mutual community of media artists. Since the community is rather spread out geographically, it was cool to be able to experience all the work in one place — and in our own city no less.

MAY 28–JUNE 4 — I traveled to Guanajuato, Mexico, to visit family. It is a very beautiful place.

MAY 24 — We performed a REALITY ORP set in the Boston area. I wrote about it and shared the set here: palomakop.tv/blog/2026-05-24_reality-orp-performance-orbits

People learning about Analog Video Glitch

APRIL 10 — I helped teach a workshop on Analog Video Glitch at Temple University’s Electronics Faire.

MARCH 8 — I made this fun interactive thing that lets you randomly draw cards from my idea card deck: lab.palomakop.tv/ideas

UNTIL JUNE — I continued to make Mystery Objects and send them out for Zine Club. Here are two of my favorites:

Photo of the Vessels printed zine

A zine called Vessels. You can view the virtual version here: palomakop.tv/zine-club/vessels-zine/

Circular embroidered patch with the quadrants labeled: space, energy, time, matter, inside a modified yin-yang symbol with waveform patterns

An embroidered patch based on fundamental concepts of physics. This was the final Mystery Object for Zine Club.

I’m looking forward to making more things — now for AV Club instead of Zine Club. (I’m excited that we already have 20 members so far!)

Thanks for reading this update, and keep in touch.

Best,

Paloma Kop
