NEUROSCIENTIST: Everyone Is Practicing Gratitude Wrong! - Andrew Huberman

“The increases of dopamine and serotonin and feelings of subjective wellbeing from people who have a regular, effective gratitude practice are immense, these are sky rocket effects.”

What is the most effective gratitude practice?

  1. Receiving Gratitude

  2. Observing someone else receiving gratitude

We thought gratitude was all about being grateful, but it comes from unpredictable factors such as (1) and (2).

So give thanks to help those around us, but also be in a position to receive it.

What data shows us about gratitude:

  • Avoiding toxic people

  • Focusing on good social interactions

  • Physical contact with animals kids and loved ones

    - Huge increases in serotonin, oxytocin. “These are no longer things that are talked about at the end of a yoga class, this is real science with brain imaging and measurements of chemicals from the brain and blood.”

“Surround yourself with good people.”
