How to smile with your eyes - Vanessa Van Edwards
It’s important we begin to understand the subtle language we can communicate with using body language, and it all starts with the point of connection, our eyes.
I want to teach you guys the foundations of communicating with your eyes. How to bring ease and comfort to those around you, with a simple exercise.
Exercise:
As you smile, notice which muscles tense. Your cheeks, your chin, your eyebrows, and the side of your eyes. Your eyes themselves also emit a new presence. Try to observe this in yourself.
Try smiling again, but this time, as you let go of the smile, try to maintain the eye muscles in the position of smiling whilst letting all the other muscles come down, even your eyebrows. We want to only activate the eyes.
What you will find, is that you are able to smile with your eyes. A certain presence that will make people around you want to smile back.
Notice how there are people whose eyes are shut down or closed off because they are maybe having a difficult day. If you make eye contact with these people whilst having your own eyes activated, they are very likely to subconsciously activate their own eyes too, helping them improve their mood.
Practice these simple steps to activating your eyes. This is then foundations to body language and communicating with your eyes.
