Consistency
Hello!
I hope you had a great weekend! We're getting ready to tackle the last weeks of work of the year. Some people might already be out on vacation, or this might be their last week.
There's always this "Holiday mood" going around at the office when everything is slowing down around me.

I've been thinking about consistency lately. Mainly because it recently dawned on me that I've managed to keep writing this newsletter week after week.
Sometimes, they're half-baked thoughts, rants, and sometimes some glimpse of reason.
Something to look out for every week
One exciting thing is that my Sundays after lunch have become the moment I look out for in my day. While Sundays are generally for chores or going out, I end my day by sitting down and writing my thoughts for the week.
It invigorates me for the week ahead.
Setup Systems
The main thing I've noticed, and also because my wife told me (:P), is that I'm better at sitting down and writing down my thoughts. I don't struggle as much as I did initially when I could stare at a blank page for hours.
The main thing has been creating a list of thoughts during the week so I don't start from zero each week.
In the future, I want to set up a more robust "system," i.e., setting up templates or getting to a backlog of topics to write on.
Side-Effects
When I started, my main thing was improving my writing. It has helped me with that, but it also has helped me with being faster and gathering my thoughts.
Even at work, I can present my ideas in a more condensed manner.
Expectations
I didn't have any more expectations than writing down my thoughts. So, I haven't dedicated myself to "growing" the audience here.
It's mostly a selfish exercise for me, but I appreciate you taking the time to read my emails!
Create the right expectations for you so you can stay motivated.
Your Turn!
Have you thought about something you're consistent with? It can be a sport, a hobby, or something you do every week. Like playing Go or Chess.
Please let me know what you think by replying to this email.
Happy coding!
Things I discovered in the past week
- At work, we had its end-of-year celebration and suggested cocktail attire. I used ideas from this Twitter Thread to understand what that meant! (Beyond dressing like a Cosmo).
- A quick blog post from Lorin Hochstein about assigning Human Error at Fault for Postmortems.
