The latest issue of HackSpace Magazine features an 8 page "Meet the Maker" feature all about me (Tommy) and my journey making Oskitone. It's free to download, so go read it right now!... or be like me and buy 10 copies. Either way!
It's a real honor to be even be considered, let alone included and in such illustrious company. Thank you so much, HackSpace!
October's issue is #47 and should be on newstands now, wherever HackSpace is sold.

Scout updates
- Since its release mid-August, the Scout is the fastest-selling Oskitone kit! It'll soon outsell the POLY555, despite coming out much later.
- I've narrowed its enclosure color choices from Atomic Pink and Yellow to just Yellow, but now it's less neon-y and a slightly warmer hue. I like it!
- Speaking of colors, the first run of purple PCBs sold out and the current batch is an old-school green. Dig it.
- I put out one minor STL change to make the knob fit more easily and started a changelog of revisions on the repo.
- STLs were previously only available on Thingiverse but are now also on PruaPrinters. TBD on how that affects sales but I hope it's, you know, positively?

New sticker: the Oskitone DIP8
|
|
|
"OESNKOIT? OSKIENOT?!" Confuse your friends and family with this big yellow sticker of an OSKITONE IC chip that does not exist.
Buy one for a buck or buy basically anything else and I'll throw it in gratis.

Help me (help you [help me])
Oskitone is just one guy. Hello! It's my full time job and a labor of love, and I'm working hard to make it long-term sustainable before exhausting my savings. Your support and purchases keep me going! That being said, I know there're only so many cute little piano keyboards that a house needs.
Here are some ways you can help me with Oskitone that don't involve spending your hard-earned cash:
- For folks who have put together one of my kits:
- If you haven't already, shoot me an email with how it went, how long it took, any problems you ran into, feedback you might have, etc. This helps improve future kits and their instructions.
- Did you print your own parts? I'm especially interested in what kind of filament you used. (I'm realizing that since I design with PLA, maybe I should discourage using ABS, etc?)
- Need help? Please, please email me. It's a small heart attack to get @-ed on Twitter with a broken build.
- I'm not sure yet how to deal with problems popping up during video livestreams, but let me know if you stream and have any ideas.
- For all Oskitone owners:
- I'd love to share photos of your Oskitone on social media! Post and tag me so I can repost, or email me photos w/ what usernames you want tagged. Videos are cool too! No musical talent required.
- You can also send me photos of your gear that aren't for sharing! When I get photos from parents of their kids playing w/ POLY555s, it makes my heart melt. Love it.
- For Oskitone fans:
- Tell your friends, family, colleagues, and enemies about Oskitone! Enemies especially. They're the worst.
- Post on social media! Like, share a link to a thing of mine that you want w/ personalized text like "My name is YOUR NAME and I would like NAME OF PRODUCT from COMPANY". Think of all the likes you'll get w/ a tweet like that! Wow.
- Send me a nice note! Introduce yourself, maybe ask a question, that kind of thing. Community is nice; no man is an island.
That's it. Thank youuuuu!
-Tommy
