05. A Short One (Third Quarter)

It's not that I'm uninspired this week. A this moment my heart is absolutely teeming with inspiration, just not inspiration for written things that I want to share right now. But the moon has reached the third quarter of its 1251st lunation (since 2001) and so I'm sending an email.

I have been fleshing out some longer-term plans of things to make and do, surfing on the growing edge of my self-discovery, and doing crochet while watching Yellowjackets and A Murder at the End of the World and Twin Peaks: The Return. I started a batch of beet kvass from this recipe.

The biggest outcome of my job-interview breakthrough from last time is that it has given me a fresh vantage point to think about exactly what kind of work I actually want to be doing as my superpowered self — and what kinds of work I want to be bringing into the world. I'm blessed to continue to have time and space to figure that out.

A cardboard backing board for some retail product is torn open, lying on a cracked sidewalk. The hole for the retail hanger is placed so it looks like a friendly mouth, two slots above it look like eyes, and two strips of cardboard on either side of that face look like hair. Red paper overlaying that cardboard makes it look like a hat.
Doesn't this piece of trash I saw on the sidewalk look like a cartoon of a dutch person? And oh yay, Buttondown has actual photo captions now.

This is issue five of my newsletter. People I've been sending it to all year continue to find it for the first time in their Spam folder, which continues to reap wonderful treats of people saying hi and catching up with me. So in case you are new here I will say again that you can unsubscribe anytime or read the first issue where I talk about why I started a newsletter.

Next one March 16, 9:10 PM Pacific: First Quarter Moon.

Love,

Orión
