On a sunny walk, I followed a group of friends who were all wearing Doc Martens. They walked into a house and I turned and walked into a yard of a church. The sidewalk looked sharper today because of the sun. Both uglier and prettier. Maybe anonymity promises possibilities.

The blank page vs. the void. Presence that's felt before it's seen. Is that magic?

Things that have felt presence before seen presence:

• a rash that comes up on your neck when you get nervous from public speaking
• the blanket that almost fell completely off the bed except for its corner that you have to do a little asleep dance with your leg to get to
• the moon
• an irritating hair loose inside your mask
• a lover or a friend when they enter the room
