๐ฎ February in a leap year! In this issue, make a leap with us to the open data world with new datasets, slides and a community partnership.
We have 3 new datasets released that cover data from Ghana ๐ฌ๐ญ and Malawi ๐ฒ๐ผ! Check them out:
cleanteamghana
: user experience data for the Clean Team Ghana container-based sanitation service in Kumasi, Ghana.basisghana
: sanitation data from established Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities across different regions in Ghana.chckapmalawi
: insights from a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Survey conducted by BASEflow for Waste Advisers in Malawi, focusing on Community Health Centers (CHCs).openwashdata successfully hosted the webinar "A data sharing workflow that may please the publishers" with 39 participants. Thanks to Prof. Elizabeth Tilley (ETH Zรผrich) for moderating the exciting and friendly discussion with Lars Schรถbitz (openwashdata) and Lauren Cadwallader (PLOS).

From this year, openwashdata will expand the community network with partnerships to strengthen and promote open data practice for the greater Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) domain.
WASHWeb and openwashdata have joined forces in a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing access and recognition of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) information. Our collaboration includes maintaining open source tools for analyzing SDG 6 progress data, facilitating discussions on enhancing existing datasets, and establishing a who-what-when-where registry (4Ws) for better context. The partnership extends to an academy course on data science, where openwashdata features WASHWeb's software library. Through joint efforts, we seek to address challenges in using WASH data effectively, promoting accountability, systems thinking, and social justice.
Applause to our data package developer Sophia Skorik who delivered the datasets cleanteamghana
, basisghana
, chckapmalawi
, and universityrankingafrica
. You might also have had her support throughout the course data science for openwashdata. Thanks to all the contribution Sophia has made to the openwashdata community!
We truly believe that openwashdata project prospers when we have YOU work together and promote open science and data practice! No matter what background you are from, we come up with some ways for you to get involved:
