Flora
Open Thoughts
A small update: My goal has been to exhibit more this year, so I have been applying to a variety of group shows. One of them is happening real real real soon!
I will be participating in Botanical Readiness, a group show of sci-fi flora scattering the walls of Garden Apartment Gallery. It opens Sat. March 7, 6–10 p.m. at 3528 W. Fulton Blvd., Chicago

I will have 3 works in the show. Each is inspired by the tree of life motif embroidered on Ukrainian Rushnykys. This is the cloth I decided to reference for the work:

I’ve been working long hours in the studio and sleeping a lot (as my mono from 5th grade has flared up… eeeep). But! I will solder the pieces in my backyard tomorrow and get this work done just in time for the show.

So, if you are around March 7th and down to come to Garfield Park, stop by and see the Botanical Readiness show. My copper and ceramic flowers will be there, and so will I!
Other things I have been thinking about:
your teeth are minerals and can remineralize (I did a bunch of teeth-related research before I scheduled my first dental cleaning after 14 years)
Octavia Butler totally predicted the future, I’m reading Parable of the Talents and I’m obsessed
kids
