OUR NAME
Name
We have said we would create a name for our group.
We had 3 suggestions.
1) OPEN SPACE Following on from the parable Ged sent, I’ve been recommended a book to read which describes a Dutch person’s experiences of being held in a concentration camp in WW2, and the role of fleas!- ’The Hiding Place’ by Corrie Tenboom.
2) OPEN (AGOR) Open ( agor) Joseph( our youngest son) has designed a logo
3) OPEN We thought it keeps it simple, says what we are about and well,leaves it 'open'
I have a suggestion for a name for the group..."Open Windows". Reasons being that it might connect well with any work that Charles group in Dolgellau might do, it links with the "throwing open the windows" of Vatican II, and it might facilitate, as time goes on, to "open paths, open rooms, open spaces, open minds, open hearts, open days, open-ness,...etc
Charles’ choice of name Listening to Clare and Joseph made me remember the definition of God by St Thomas Aquinas. God is an Artist, he thought. Aquinas made all his amazing thinking start, develop and rest with the word “wonder.” Looking at the world with wonder, he thought, begins to let creation speak to you of the beauty and mystery of the hidden God. It leads to the great gifts of faith, hope and love. Then I thought, “Wonder” is very close to Joseph’s “Open.” I decided I’d ask Joseph which of these he preferred and I’d go with his vote.
What is it we’re doing ? This is still OPEN for discussion, for more wondering ? Arent we seeking conversation with everybody and anybody, as Catholic Christians seeking unity with all people and things ? If so, maybe creation is one possible common ground for that conversation.
Also, maybe it should be ? I believe creation, God’s work of art, is the second bible, a way of God the Artist speaking to us.
Spirituality I think words like wonder and listening are also close together. So questions like how could we start to listen to individuals about spirituality, or the groups we start hopefully, are worth thinking about.
Paul suggested interviewing Sheila for instance, on hospital chaplaincy spirituality. I think I said I might considering asking two women who run the Good News Mission, or my local doctor ? Any other ideas ? We could ask anybody - each other – make us start thinking furiously !!!!
