Thanks to Sheila for welcoming us to her house as Prestatyn Church hall was locked.
We began with a short silence and meditation from Meister Eckhart ‘Opening the heart’s door’ followed by ‘The Messenger’ by Mary Oliver.
Thank you to Carole for her very comprehensive minutes
We looked at part of the document on the purpose of the group that Charles had put together
Vision we don't know what the end point is, we don't know God's plan, but we know it's beautiful and we hope a group forms -a variety of people with belief or non coming together. There was some discussion about the terms restorative justice and addiction- we are open to everyone, but recognise our limited expertise and could signpost where necessary.
What do we do in practice? We may only find answers as any situation arises
We can refer back to ‘Vision’ as we review our progress.
Mission
We added our hopes to support and encourage anyone attending to explore their own humanity and that of others; to enable them to see what’s going on around tgem, noticing what’s giving energy or goodness in a situation.
For all to be open to change from experience. We can't predict how a meeting would go, it’s a blank canvas, but will learn/know better once we have our first physical get together.
Charles shared an article ‘Catholicism’s unknown future’ by Tomas Halik in The Tablet and this quote from it “a contemplative approach to reality allows us to perceive the constant presence of God to perceive our relationship with the natural environment as our relationship of cooperation and responsibility for the creatio continua (the ongoing process of creation)…
Synodality, as a common journey, moves all creation towards a deeper mutuality …… by cultivating relationships with one another by overcoming mental boundaries we contribute - whether we are aware of it or not -to deepening all our relationships to a common ground: to God, who is all in all
Sheila and Charles had met with Catherine, from Good News Mission, a charity in Rhyl which relies on funding to support people in Rhyl facing various difficulties. We might consider using their premises for meetings. Need to ascertain days/times it would be available
Paul will contact Catherine about the possibility of recording an interview.
Advertising- most effective way is word of mouth but also consider social media, parishes, ?GP surgeries and libraries- these would need permission
We agreed that words used on any advertising would be
OPEN (Agor) Is a group for exploring and listening to thoughts and ideas around spirituality.
What does this mean? Well, we are still working this out, but so far thoughts are around deeper connections, to the natural world, to each other and perhaps to a greater being.
Everyone is welcome to this journey of exploration, all faiths or none, those who feel hurt or confused by life, or are simply curious.
We hope to share a mixture of discussion and activities (walking ,drums, art?) Most importantly a drink, slice of cake and a warm welcome.
Aim to have first ‘Open’ meeting mid November/ Christmas at latest- e.g.Mulled wine and mince pie
Date of next meeting Tuesday 29th October, 6.30pm at Sheila’s house
Carole O’T will share an article by Dr. Ilia Delio
