Brigantia - The Celtic Goddess

Brigantia - The Celtic Goddess

Hi everybody,

Part of a powerpoint I'm showing to St Brigid's school on their Feast day 1st February (I'm there next Monday)

Note the importance of art/ imagination on the side of a house, to connect the Celtic Goddess Brigid/ Brigantia (Feast Day - Imbolc 1st Feb) with Ireland's national Saint, Brigid. The Goddess was all about creativity, including birth, much more focused on the body.

Celebration of Spring

Imbolc marks the arrival of spring, celebrating the end of winter and the beginning of new growth.

Goddess Brigid

Imbolc honours the goddess Brigid, symbolising fertility, healing, and inspiration, and is central to the festival.

Renewal and New Life

The festival signifies renewal and the first stirrings of new life, reflecting the cyclical nature of the seasons.

Thanks for sharing Charles, Hope all goes well at the school. Certainly enjoying spotting the first signs of Spring and embracing light gradually seeping back into late afternoons. Are you able to sort the Public Liability before our next month's meeting? We can all chip in cost wise. That is if we are sticking with meeting at Nant Hall? With Love x
