you want it all but you can't have it...

Hello there. Here's a skull for you.

It took me about 40 minutes to draw the skull today. I erased it twice. And you can kind of tell I got sick of the grass by the end.

Anyway. That's not really something to worry about. Let's move on to a recap of last weekend.

On Sunday I attended my first ever Coburg Makers Market.

It was a nice day. My first sale was around an hour or more after official opening via a seeing eye dog who can smell out dnd dice. He was such a lovely boy! And I had quite a long chat with his human.

I was also visited by the ever wonderful Emily N3ver and her wife. And Stuart who i collaborated with on a zine last year. It was great seeing all of them and their support was what largely got me over the line sales wise.

Zinesters really are the best people. And dice sniffing doggos. I think I got a couple more sales of Sammy Doom. But not much else.

I definitely want to tweak my set up more. It needs to be lighter and less cluttered. Something I'll play around with the next couple of weeks. I did public transport it there and my back/shoulders are still stiff from dragging 17kg suitcase and a chair i didn't end up needing.

I also made a zine as business card with a bonus poster inside.

I am absurdly please with how they turned out concidering I drew and ran them through the home printer the night before.

I've put my hand up for 13th September and 24th October. I've also signed up for Melbourne alternative comics expo on the 11th October. But I have not heard back from either yet. I will be signing up for hallozeen again. I will have volume 5 of today's skull (can you believe it) and hopefully the 6th, and final (for now) of Sammy Doom.

And, if I get myself organised properly, I want to launch the kickstarter for a shiny limited edition of Sammy Doom. That's the dream. Watch this space.

On a positive note, I met up with the lovely Mel of zine gang distro fame to exchange zines. Her and Thom are heading up to Mildura for a zine fair. So swing past and sling them some cash.

Next up is to get some sort of website going. Reactivate my abn. More Sammy Doom. New badges. Hopefully stickers as well. And to figure out a good way to do card payments without getting a square card reader. I'm sure there's a way surly.

Other things.

It was a big weekend as I went to see karnivool at Margaret court areana. Oh my God. It was so good. Probably a good thing I wasn't in the pit. My knees aren't what they use to be. Included on stage at verious points were a harp, horns (trumpet and a trombone) and bagpipes. It was one of those gigs that remind you why you go to gigs.

And I stupidly bought tickets to faith no more/ system of a down. I can't afford them but I will be damned if I miss them. I missed both bowie and prince and the original Fleetwood mac line up. I'm not missing either FNM of SoaD.

Tick tec has ‘dynamic pricing ‘ for which I want to kick them very hard in unmentionable places for. Its bad enough I'm bleeding money for shit seats, but tickets go up in price depending on how good the sales are is somewhere towards the lowest circle of hell. It's extortion. I hate it.

I could sit here and whing but I would rather make zines. So off I go to do that. See you all next week ^_^

Make zines screw capitalism.
