Stream Fantasmas Series on Max
Dreams In Nightmares first review
silly ai transcript below:
hi. this is ohyung. welcome to my newsletter. i have been meaning to send you something beautiful, something honest, all written down in writing, blah, blah, blah, and i don't know, i just haven't done it for whatever reason, it feels hard to write about myself. but the whole point of this newsletter is to share some thoughts and updates on my music. so i'm currently driving to visit my parents for the first time in the year, and i thought it'd be easier, and it feels already easier to just record this voice note while i drive. yeah, so music updates. problemista is now streaming on hbo max, so you can stream that there, and julio's television show fantasmas. i also scored that with and that was released a month or two ago and is now entirely all six episodes of streaming on hbo max. it's kind of like problemista's rabid baby. it's a lot more sprawling and weird and queer. yeah, i don't know how else to describe it, but i got to write a lot of really strange music for it. there's some club scenes that i got to make trance and techno and some jersey club beats, which is really fun. so the soundtrack for fantasmas is not out yet. hbo was sitting on it for a while, but fingers crossed, i'll have a home for it to release it soon. yeah, so that's the latest news in the julio torres world, and i've been working on a few other independent films earlier this year, and one of them, dreams in nightmares, which premiered was written by my friend shatara michelle ford, written and directed, just premiered at blackstar fest in philadelphia, and hopefully we'll be finding its way to distributors and theaters soon. i recently scored a film also called happyend by director neo sora, and that will be premiering at the venice film festival at the end of august, which i'm really excited about, because i've never been to one of these fancy european festivals. i'm probably going to be disappointed, but i'm going to go. why not? um, um, yeah, outside of that, my solo music, oyun stuff, i have two albums, and one is ambient, one is something else hard to describe, and i'm hoping to get both of those out next year, early next year and then the end of next year. so i'm excited about those. yeah, i don't know. on a personal note, i changed my name to lia recently, so if we're close, if you have my name and contact, please switch it to lia. lia, because i am transgender lol. i am a transsexual. let's see what other news, what are the life news i've been i just moved back to new york with my partner, yasmin. we have, we were living in iowa, and now we just moved back. and so that's been quite an adjustment. yeah, other than that, i've just been chilling. so, yeah, i'm hoping to be better about sending you things, writing things, if i can get out of my head a little bit, i really want to, you know, have this be a space to share things i'm working on, maybe behind the scenes, process stuff on film scoring, working on problemista and fantasmas. maybe some unreleased music, some remixes. i've been having some fun with some remixes of green day and creed and just being silly. so maybe sharing those but, yeah, i don't know. how are you? i'd love to hear from anyone following this newsletter. if you want to send me reply with an update on your life and what you want to hear from this newsletter and behind the scenes, stuff, maybe process, stuff, thoughts. you know, it's hard to keep a clear head with everything happening in the world. yeah. anyways, i think that's it for now. thanks for listening. thanks for keeping up. i hope you're well more soon. bye, bye.
