Us? We’ve spent our summer hard at work on the new Mic Drop. It’s packed full of new features and improvements. We’re super excited to share it with you. Keep your eyes peeled!

Mic Drop 2.0 will be Mac App Store only

We’ve thought about this a whole lot, and we’re moving to selling Mic Drop exclusively in the App Store. There are lots of reasons for this, but the big one is almost all of our users buy Mic Drop from the App Store already. Maintaining the self-hosted version is more work than the App Store version, and since the fees for the self-hosted version are actually higher than Apple’s 15% payment fee, it was a no-brainer.

What if I bought Mic Drop from your website?

If you want the new version, you’ll need to buy a copy from the App Store.

Unfortunately there’s no way for us to migrate users who purchased Mic Drop directly from our website over to the Mac App Store version.

What if I don’t want to upgrade?

That’s okay! You can still use the existing Mic Drop for as long as you’d like. You won’t get all the shiny new features, but we’ll release bug fixes when needed, and the app should continue to work for basically forever.
