Wednesday's Puzzle - A tale of two synonyms

Name a major U.S. city that's 10 letters long. If you have the right one, you can rearrange its letters to get two 5-letter words that are synonyms. What's the city, and what are the two synonyms?

[SPOILER] Answer to Wednesday's Puzzle

The city is Sacramento, and the synonyms are scent and aroma.

Kudos to reader Carolyn for getting creative and suggesting "acorn meats" instead.
