Occasional Puzzles - 📣 An Occasional Announcement

Occasionally we here at Occasional Puzzles HQ have an update to share with our readers. However, we like to keep things puzzle-focused so, naturally, this update comes in puzzle form!

Today's Puzzle - 📣 An Occasional Announcement

Today’s puzzle is in the style of The New York Times’ Connections, one of our daily favorites (you can find our previous Connections-style puzzle here). The usual instructions are to find four sets of four words that have something in common, with each item appearing only once. This particular puzzle, however, has a twist, which you’ll have to figure out along the way!

A four by four grid containing the following words: BOOM, CARROT, MONITOR, GRAND, TOOTH, WIPE, STEPS, FORMULA, SHARK, SPINACH, BLUE, SHOWER, DOLL, BLANKET, POWDER, TALK

Solution [SPOILER]

From the top, clockwise, the answers are:

  1. OVERHEAD

  2. HEAD FIRST

  3. FIRST HAND
