Bronwyn Schuster's Artist Notes: Summer Solstice

I'm diving into summer projects, art adventures, and special shop update before I hit the road.

Summer has no brakes

With the warm weather comes a torrent of things to do and projects to start. I’ve forgotten my well cultivated winter art of saying “no”, and switched to a manic “Yes, and!” in enthusiasm of creative projects, and in complete disregard to the limits of time and space.

I wont overwhelm you with the details, but I will give you a quick overview of the highlights.

On June 20th, I am packing up my car for a cross province adventure. I'll be stopping in Vernon BC for the Strange Bazaar, Calgary AB for a fun little project, and then Eastend SK for the annual art retreat. Then in July I will be working with my mom, to put up a mural for the SW Mural Fest.

But before I go! I’ve put up a few special things in my shop. Including 4 of my 5 pieces of pottery I got to keep from a collaboration I did with local potter Ember Blair. (You may remember them if you were following me back in 2022) The series is based off of rope drawings I did in Vancouver in 2019 during some really amazing shibari life drawing sessions. The pieces were all wood fired on Denman in one of the coolest kilns made by Gordon Hutchens. These are very special pieces, and I don’t know that I will do anything like them again.

I’ll be closing up the store on June 18th, and it will likely stay that way until August. If you support me on Patreon you get a 15% discount code for everything in the shop, as well as ramblings about my newest experiments and creations (I just posted about my exploration into tradition glass painting!)
