Some notes for attendees of tomorrow's NYCIG social

2025-04-08

Hi, all!

I have two quick updates to share about the NYC Indie Games Social tomorrow (Wednesday).

First, I’ve just heard back from the venue’s manager that the rooftop is currently being renovated. I believe that it was supposed to be fully open this time around—both to the general public and to the sky, with the winterizing removed—but it sounds like there’s a chance it may not be ready in time, in which case we may have to use one of the lower floors instead.

Just something to be aware of if being fully outside is a factor in your decision to attend. I’m expecting a final update sometime around 4pm tomorrow, and I’ll post that info on the event page when I hear.

And secondly, we’ll be joined by Tim Rattray, a writer who’s working on a short documentary series about NYC’s indie game dev scene. He’s asked for permission to shoot some general background/B-roll footage at the meetup. If you prefer not to be filmed, just let us know and we’ll do our best to keep you out of it, but just be aware that there may some general coverage of the room and we probably can’t guarantee you 100% won’t appear.

If this is a concern or would prevent you from attending, please feel free to reply to this email to get in touch directly. I’m personally excited for this documentary project and supportive of Tim’s aims to highlight what’s special about this unique scene we’re all a part of, but I’m mindful that the social is a space for the community above anything else, so I wouldn’t want anything to compromise that.

I think that’s it for the updates—looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
